Durante el evento, auspiciado por The Heinz Endowments y The Pittsburgh Foundation, Colón Tarrats expondrá en el panel Speed Dating on Issues: Critical Challenges of our Time, bajo la premisa de Rebuilding After Natural Disasters.

Fundación Comunitaria de Puerto Rico will participate in the CFLeads 2019 Fall Forum Making Our Mark: Igniting the Future of Community Foundations

The president/CEO of Fundación Comunitaria de Puerto Rico (FCPR), Nelson Colón Tarrats, will participate in the CFLeads 2019 Fall Forum Making Our Mark: Igniting the Future of Community Foundations, this October 22-24, in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania.

In the event, sponsored by The Heinz Endowments y The Pittsburgh Foundation, Colón Tarrats will be one of the participants in the Speed Dating on Issues: Critical Challenges of our Time Panel, focusing in Rebuilding After Natural Disasters. His participation will be October 24, from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.

After Hurricane Maria, the FCPR activated the Puerto Rico Community Recovery Fund, thus becoming a reliable source for donors interested in helping and strengthening our communities and a source of grants for organizations throughout the Island. A total of $13 million has been received. Since then, the fund has awarded $8.5 million in donations to nonprofit organizations and individuals for immediate relief and sustainable renovation in our communities, plus $1.3 million for training and technical assistance. To transition from the immediate relief to sustainable renovation stages, the FCPR implemented a strategic design to guide the work, focusing on five areas: renewable energy, water, housing, economic development and education.

According to CFLeads web page, the event is designed to bring the most forward-looking community foundations from across the country together to: identify the ever-changing roles community foundations need to play as community leaders; debate the role and responsibilities of community foundations in a time of political, economic, and social division; dive into promising practices of community leadership; gather with like-minded peers to build relationships and achieve greater learning; and define the future for community foundations committed to community leadership.
