The Veteran’s organization recognized FCPR’s support to “Un Sato con Sentido” a project developed by José Ismael Irizarry and financially supported by the PGA Legacy Fund for Puerto Rico, a fund administered by FCPR. In collaboration with the New Beginning Clinic of the VA Caribbean Healthcare System, the PGA Legacy Fund for Puerto Rico will provide grants to non-profits that train dogs to become companions for veterans.

“Thank you for this recognition and for bringing this idea, that has served to connect with this segment of our population. We are happy to become facilitators of this beautiful project,” said FCPR Senior Vicepresident, Mary Ann Gabino.

José Irizarry, president of Veteranos con Puerto Rico, highlighted the importance of providing alternate support to veterans and highlighted the importance of bringing institutions like FCPR to provide guidance and structure to the giving process.

Dr. Aníbal Rodríguez, from New Beginning Clinic, said service dogs are a therapeutic tool for the veteran community, for which he is grateful that this project will be established. “We thank you for adopting this project,” said the Doctor of Psychology.
