The Institute for Building Racial Equity in the Americas<\/strong> (REBIA) is a program of the Puerto Rico Community Foundation<\/strong> (FCPR), which seeks to strengthen initiatives and projects that seek grassroots anti-racist solutions for systemic change by impacting public policy and creating a new narrative of inclusion and racial equity.<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Starting from an understanding of the systemic and institutional racism that permeates our society, <\/strong>REBIA was born out of the need to create a network of equity builders to join the anti-racist efforts that are taking shape in the Americas. Our program seeks to facilitate equitable access to resources and opportunities that will allow the eradication of the racism that threatens Afro-Latinx communities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Por tercer a\u00f1o consecutivo, la\u00a0Puerto Rico Community Foundation\u00a0<\/strong>(FCPR) and its program\u00a0Institute for Building Racial Equity in the Americas<\/strong>\u00a0(REBIA) will hold the meeting\u00a0Racial Equity Builders Dialogue 2026,\u00a0<\/em>del 25 al 27 febrero, en San Juan. El evento sirvi\u00f3 como un espacio filantr\u00f3pico \u00fanico en las Am\u00e9ricas, que reuni\u00f3 a l\u00edderes de fundaciones, organizaciones sin fines de lucro y asociaciones de Estados Unidos, Centro Am\u00e9rica, el Caribe y Sur Am\u00e9rica, enfocadas en la construcci\u00f3n de la equidad racial. El encuentro se dise\u00f1\u00f3 como un conversatorio activo entre quienes participan, desde sus respectivas plataformas, en el fortalecimiento de democracias inclusivas, de cara al escenario pol\u00edtico en las Am\u00e9ricas. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Puerto Rico participates in United Nations event on racism in Geneva, Switzerland<\/strong><\/h5>\n\n\n\n

Puerto Rico was present at the Third Session of the Permanent Forum on People of African Descent of the United Nations Organization<\/strong> (UN), which culminated on Friday, April 19 in Geneva, Switzerland. The forum was held under the motto <\/strong>The Second International Decade for People of African Descent: Combating systemic racism, restorative justice and sustainable development.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Leaders of African descent in U.S. and Caribbean philanthropy meet in Puerto Rico <\/strong><\/h5>\n\n\n\n

With the purpose of advancing racial equity in the Americas from the philanthropic sector, leaders of 21 foundations from the United States and the Caribbean gathered February 21-23 in San Juan, Puerto Rico, to celebrate The impact of global racism in the Americas: a racial equity builders dialogue.<\/strong><\/em>. The event served as a stage to reflect on racism and create paths for action in the continent. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Puerto Rico Community Foundation<\/strong> (FCPR) is a philanthropic organization with a history of almost 40 years of collaboration with donors and communities, with the purpose of developing the capacities of the latter through the increase of community capital. It is the first community foundation in the Caribbean and Latin America and the only one of its kind in Puerto Rico. Its programmatic focuses have included access to water, energy, housing and education, and activating economic development, among others.
