The Gualasia Scholarship Fund, established at the Community Foundation of Puerto Rico (FCPR), provides supplemental financial aid for university studies in the area of agriculture or pedagogy, at the undergraduate or graduate level.
Is this scholarship for me? Learn about the eligibility criteria.
- Be a permanent resident of Puerto Rico and from the towns of Jayuya or Utuado.
- Students from Jayuya or Utuado must have an undergraduate (technical, associate or bachelor's degree) or graduate level education in the area of agricultural sciences, agricultural genetics and biotechnology, among other related fields, in an accredited educational institution in or outside Puerto Rico.
- Students from Jayuya must have an undergraduate (technical, associate or bachelor's degree) or graduate level education in the area of pedagogy, in an accredited educational institution in or outside of Puerto Rico -particularly, students in education interested in developing as educators who promote and integrate the STEM approach to their teaching practices.
- Evidence of satisfactory academic performance. For the purposes of this scholarship, this is defined as an overall academic rating of 2.50 or higher (on a scale of 4.00).
- Be students with a full academic load, with a minimum of 12 credits per semester, in the undergraduate program and nine credits for graduate programs.
- Demonstrate financial need, satisfactory academic achievement, leadership and interest in community development in Puerto Rico.
