The Sandy Hill Memorial Fund administered by the Puerto Rico Community Foundation (PRCF)- offers additional scholarships to support students from Culebra and, as of 2023, also Vieques., who aspire to build a better future through university, technical or vocational studies.

The purpose of this Fund is to provide supplemental financial aid to young people from Culebra and Vieques who wish to pursue university studies or technical and vocational programs in accredited post-secondary institutions. In addition, it seeks to foster students' academic self-confidence, promoting their ability to achieve their goals and their potential impact on the social development of Puerto Rico.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Be a resident of Culebra or Vieques for a period of five (5) years or more.
  • Be in a full-time undergraduate program of study in a variety of academic areas or a non-university (vocational or technical) post-secondary program of study. 
  • Academic Performance (minimum required index):
    • 2.50 or higher (on a scale of 4.00) new applicants
    • 2.80 or higher (on a scale of 4.00) renewal candidates
  • Have an academic load:
    • 12 credits (undergraduate)
    • In the case of post-secondary vocational or technical programs, it will be evaluated in accordance with the requirements of the program of study.
  • Demonstrate financial need.
  • Demonstrate leadership and community engagement through extracurricular activities and volunteerism.
