Yauco and Guayanilla has a first responder in CMTAS

CMTAS (Centro Microempresa y Tecnología Agrícola de Yauco, Inc. – Center for
Microenterprise, Technology, and Agriculture of Yauco) became a community first
responder after hurricane María hit this rural municipality in the South of Puerto Rico.
With a nearby population of adults and feeling in isolation, they decided to provide for
their community in the short term, while envisioning their long-term sustainability plan for
their community.
With a grant from the Puerto Rico Community Foundation, they were able to buy and
industrial gas stove and water tank to provide food and water for their community; and
equipment to clean up the roads that provide access to remote communities in Yauco.
Their long-term plan is to dig a well, as they are nearby a small stream of water, that will
provide unlimited water to the community.
