The international recognition is granted by the movement Catalyst 2030 and recognizes individuals and organizations that seek to advance the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

San Juan | Thursday, June 2, 2022| The Puerto Rico Community Foundation (FCPR) is one of the finalist organizations for the System Changes Awards 2022, an annual recognition awarded by the Catalyst 2030, global movement of people and organizations committed to executing bold and innovative strategies to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), as promulgated by the United Nations.

The vision of the System Changes Awards 2022, The purpose of this year's second edition is to recognize individuals and organizations that foster creative collaborations and explore solutions to address the challenges posed by poverty, food insecurity, unequal access to education, among other issues that affect the well-being of our societies, in order to advance the SDGs and thus make the world a better place.

System Changes Awards 2022 received 200 nominations, from which the movement's General Assembly, seven members of the jury and 12 members of the Awards Committee selected more than 60 finalists. The Awards Committee is co-chaired by the founder of Social Imperative and member of the movement's Board of Directors, Matthew Bishop, and the CEO of Breakthrough, Sohini Bhattacharya.

FCPR is a finalist in the Donor category (Donors), under the sub-category of Leader in Alliances (Leader in Partnership), together with Veddis Foundation (India); and Wellspring Philanthropic Fund y Women Moving Millions (United States).

“As a movement of committed social entrepreneurs, we are determined to make progress on the SDGs, as well as to support people, organizations and governments that agree on this common goal. We also want to celebrate their success. Our annual awards ceremony is just one way to highlight the achievements of our members and partners, who demonstrate how our movement is impacting the world to make it a more just place for people,” said Jeroo Billimoria, spokesperson for Catalyst.

“We are very honored to have been nominated for this recognition. The philanthropic and nonprofit sector is doing a lot in Puerto Rico to achieve the SDGs. Our goal is to make us aware of what we are achieving and to identify existing gaps in the fulfillment of these globally important goals. This recognition encourages us to continue our work, and also allows us to project Puerto Rico and the Caribbean, on a platform of international projection,” said Mary Ann Gabino, vice president of the Foundation. The finalists span sectors and include leaders who continually distinguish themselves in philanthropic, government, business, bilateral and multilateral efforts. At the same time, they advocate for the development and implementation of strategies aimed at achieving the ambitious SDGs by 2030.

The FCPR has been working directly on the issue for a year, thanks to a grant from the CS Mott Foundation.

The group of international award winners in their respective categories will be announced on June 22, 2022, during the virtual ceremony of Catalyst 2030, Systems Change Awards 2022.
