With the Loíza Glocal Bootcamp project, Vitrina Solidaria seeks to help create self-employment and new jobs through the establishment of ventures and the strengthening of existing businesses.

San Juan — (Tuesday, October 20, 2020) The organization Vitrina Solidaria has opened a call for applications for the Loíza Glocal Bootcamp project, which aims to train and advise entrepreneurs and owners of
Loíza's small and medium-sized businesses to contribute to the socioeconomic development of that coastal municipality, reported Executive Director Raquel Skerrett Escalera.

The spokeswoman indicated that since 2009, different community-based organizations have managed to significantly reduce the problem of weapons on the streets. With the Loíza Glocal Bootcamp, Vitrina Solidaria
joins these efforts to help tackle another of the communities' great challenges, poverty.

Census Data (2016 Estimate) states that 49.6% of the Loíza community lives below poverty levels. The median income in dollars is $18,154.00. And the unemployment rate ranges from 19%

He said that Vitrina Solidaria uses the ‘Business Bootcamp” methodology and support to train entrepreneurs, consisting of 40 hours of training and virtual practical sessions. During these sessions, participants will be trained in entrepreneurship, environment, and community topics. Additionally, they will develop their solidarity business canvas, which in this case is an exclusive document from Vitrina Solidaria that has been modified with three (3) new modules.
who integrate sustainability into their initiatives and projects. During the Bootcamp, you will also create the annual action plan to outline the steps to be taken over a year.

At the end of the Bootcamp, a maximum of 10 community businesses will be selected to receive a marketing tool package for their business. Participants of the Loíza Glocal Bootcamp will receive
technical accompaniment and support throughout the entire process and after its completion of the 40 hours.

Submissions must be made on or before the deadline (November 6, 2020), through the online application available at www.vitrinasolidaria.org/loizaglocal. No proposals will be accepted.

The CEO mentioned that the virtual bootcamp will take place during the first three (3) weeks of December 2020, the last three (3) weeks of January 2021, and the first week of February.

All sessions will meet virtually on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM.

Participation in the Loíza Glocal Bootcamp is open to any company, team, or individual, over 18 years of age, residing in Puerto Rico. However, the individual must reside in Loíza for the duration of the program.
