Strengthening Racial Equity through Intersectoral Dialogue
As part of our commitment to racial equity in the Americas, the Institute for Building Racial Equity in the Americas (REBIA), in collaboration with Hispanics in Philanthropy, invite to the webinar “From Land to Body: Territorial and Cultural Struggles in the SURGlobal”.”, which will take place on the next tuesday, may 13, 2025, 02:00PM (ET).
This space is a key action to promote situated knowledge, strengthen intersectoral dialogue and make Afro-descendant leadership visible in the defense of territory, body and culture.
This webinar will feature the participation of Afro-descendant and community leaders who have been on the front line of defending territories and ancestral knowledge. Among them are:
- Zeus Omar Ayala G. - UrbeApie
- Marilyn De León R. - UrbeApie
- Katherina Tatiana C. - CONAMUCA
- Erika Pires Ramos - RESAMA (Moderator)
- Dr. Isatis Marie Cintron - Climate Trace
Be part of this meeting where racialized and Afro-descendant communities from Latin America and the Caribbean will share their experiences on the profound interrelationship between territory, body and cultural resistance to the extractivist model. This conversation will reveal how territorial dispossession not only puts at risk physical spaces, but also identities, ancestral knowledge and ways of life built over generations.
Learn how these communities are defending their territories while promoting sustainable alternatives based on their own worldviews. This dialogue provides a platform to amplify historically silenced voices and weave networks of transnational solidarity.
Don't miss this transformative conversation that links land struggles with the defense of human and cultural dignity!
