San Juan | Tuesday, October 22, 2024 | 19 years since the establishment of the José Miguel Agrelot Foundation Fund. Since then, it has contributed to the mental health of the Puerto Rican people by donating to non-profit organizations with artistic and educational programs or projects that have a positive impact on the mental health of their participants.

The Fund was established in 2005 in the Puerto Rico Community Foundation (FCPR), as an initiative of the comedian's granddaughter, Ana Yolanda Agrelot, to celebrate and perpetuate his grandfather's legacy. “The Fund allows us to celebrate my grandfather's contributions every day. To remember his feat of joy, that which he injected us with every character and every comedy step. That he made us laugh. That allowed us to laugh at ourselves and he would take the ‘tip’ out of social and political events, to alleviate them. In the end, what it was all about was to procure a better mental health for our people,” Agrelot said.

During this period, the José Miguel Agrelot Foundation Fund has granted donations to CREARTE Inc., Proyecto Inspirarte, Fundación A-Mar para Niños Quemados Inc. and Shalom Facility Care Inc..

“We are very pleased to have walked this journey with the Agrelot family, facilitating their philanthropic concerns. Our role is to facilitate the family's process for philanthropic contributions to reach organizations with a strong commitment to strengthening the mental health of our communities,” said FCPR's president and chief executive officer, the Dr. Nelson I. Colón Tarrats.
