Up to 100 educators in the public school system in this region could receive this financial support to develop innovative classroom projects.

San Juan, January 28, 2019 | Puerto Rico Community Foundation (FCPR) launched a call for mini-grants to support teachers in the Humacao Educational Region and schools invited by the non-profit organization, who wish to develop creative and innovative educational strategies to improve classroom learning. The Mini-Donation Program for Teachers The FCPR will award a maximum of $500 to 100 educators. 

With this financial support, educators will have the opportunity to strengthen and implement pedagogical strategies that stimulate active learning and students“ curiosity. ”With this initiative, the Foundation is relaunching the mini-grant program that we carried out over 25 years ago, an opportunity that is still remembered by the teaching staff. On this occasion, and thanks to the contribution of several donors, we have been able to launch a new version of the program at a very opportune moment, as the program supports teachers in the formation of learning communities and project-based learning that is currently being worked on in the Department of Education," said the president of the FCPR, Dr. Nelson I. Colón Tarrats.

The Mini-Donation Program will accept applications from educators who are actively practicing their profession in schools invited by the FCPR and schools in the Humacao Region, which includes the towns of Loíza, Canóvanas, Río Grande, Luquillo, Fajardo, Ceiba, Juncos, Naguabo, Las Piedras, Humacao, Yabucoa, Maunabo, Patillas, San Lorenzo, Vieques, and Culebra. To participate, they will have to submit their innovative and creative project, as defined by the Application Guide. Following Hurricane Maria, the FCPR developed a strategic plan to promote equitable and sustainable access to potable water, renewable energy, affordable housing, community economic development, and education through the increase of community resources. The Mini-Donation Program for Teachers it is part of that effort and it's possible thanks to the contributions of Conrad N. Hilton Foundation y Central Florida Community Foundation.
