Foundations and non-profit organizations in Puerto Rico have direct access to communities most in need and at risk within the context of the COVID-19 pandemic. They also play a role
important as they have the opportunity to provide essential perspectives to inform and support decisions about the resumption of classes for students on the island.

Our students have experienced crises that have significantly impacted their academic progress over the past three years, but together in community and collaboration, we can ensure this school year counts.

It should be of interest to all of us that the Puerto Rico Department of Education, which educates the majority of our children and youth, has a comprehensive plan to resume learning safely, accessibly, and with excellence. This document is the result of collaborative work among a group of foundations committed to creating the conditions for the success of our children and the well-being of Puerto Rico.
