The Hogar el Buen Pastor is a non-profit organization that provides rehabilitation and
social reintegration services to men and women over 18 years old, the majority are
homeless and have drug or alcohol addiction problems. In the Aftermath of hurricanes
Irma and María they identified the opportunity to collaborate in the reconstruction of
their neighbor’s structure, San Agustín Academy.

The Academy, which up until the hurricanes, provided the space for their workshops
and capacity building programs became the perfect place to set up a collection center
to distribute donations coming their way.
With a grant provided by the Puerto Rico Community Recovery Fund, given just a
week after the hurricane, they have started the rehabilitation of the space and has set
up the logistics to receive donations: clothes, food, water, and other basic needs. They
have registered 20 volunteers, and the 45 individuals that are currently in their transition
homes are also collaborating.
