The Puerto Rico Community Foundation announces the opening of applications for the Assur Fund Scholarships, an initiative that provides supplementary financial support to students at different stages of their academic development.
The Assur Fund was established in 2023 on the initiative of the Azmat A. Assur Charitable Foundation and has two main focuses: supporting employees and descendants of employees of Peerless Oil & Chemicals, Inc. and its subsidiaries in Puerto Rico, as well as supporting students in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) disciplines, with priority for students from Ponce and neighboring municipalities in the southern region.
Through this call for applications, the Assur Fund will offer financial support through three scholarship opportunities aimed at different student populations:
- STEM Scholarship for students in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics disciplines.
- Scholarships for employees and their dependents of Peerless Oil & Chemicals, Inc., Petro Taíno Transport Corp., and eligible subsidiaries.
- K-12 Scholarship for Employee Dependents aimed at students from kindergarten to twelfth grade.

BECA STEM
The Assur Fund STEM Scholarship aims to support post-secondary students interested in pursuing studies related to Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) disciplines, promoting access to educational opportunities.
The scholarship is intended for students enrolled in technical, vocational, undergraduate, or graduate programs related to STEM disciplines at duly accredited educational institutions or universities. The financial aid awarded ranges from $1,400 to $8,000 annually and will be disbursed in semiannual payments equal to 50% of the total scholarship amount. In addition, the program offers the possibility of annual renewal, subject to meeting the established academic requirements and the availability of funds.

SCHOLARSHIP FOR EMPLOYEES AND EMPLOYEE DESCENDANTS
The Assur Fund Employee and Dependent Scholarship is aimed at employees and direct descendants of employees of Peerless Oil & Chemicals, Inc., Petro Taíno Transport Corp., and eligible subsidiaries in Puerto Rico. This program aims to support students with financial need and strong academic performance, while promoting leadership, community engagement, and contribution to Puerto Rico's social development.
The scholarship provides supplemental financial aid to students enrolled in technical, vocational, or professional certification programs, as well as undergraduate or graduate programs, at duly accredited educational institutions. The financial aid may range from $1,400 to $8,000 per year and will be disbursed on a semiannual basis. In addition, the scholarship may be renewed annually, subject to compliance with established requirements and the availability of funds.

Scholarship for Employees' Children, Kinder-12th Grade
The Assur Fund Employee Dependents K-12 Scholarship is for students in kindergarten through twelfth grade who are the children of eligible employees of Peerless Oil & Chemicals, Inc., Petro Taíno Transport Corp., and eligible subsidiaries in Puerto Rico. This initiative aims to support students' educational development from an early age, providing supplemental financial assistance to families in economic need, and promoting academic achievement, leadership, and awareness of the social impact of education.
The scholarship provides financial assistance to students enrolled in public or private schools and may range from 1,400 to 1,500 pesos to 1,400 to 3,000 pesos per year. The funds will be disbursed in a single payment equal to 100% of the total scholarship amount. In addition, the financial aid may be renewed annually, subject to compliance with established requirements and the availability of funds.
